Founded in July 2024, Tinkerer Borg started as a small start-up with a big vision. Our founder retired from the board of directors of TSX publicly traded company after 9 years on the board, during that time she became the third largest shareholder on the board.
Once retired she found herself with something she had never had before liquidity. Our founder had her first liquidity event in June 2024, with that she decided create her future. In July 2024 she quit her day job (JDS Group of Companies), with their full support, and started the process of forming Tinkerer Borg.
The picture if of our founder at Wesdome's Kiena Mine October 2021 with a recently poured brick of gold weighing 24,991 g. Nadine retired from Wesdome's (TSX: WDO) board in June 2024.
We believe in helping others and are dedicated to make the lives of our elders easier.
We are dedicated to making a positive impact on society through our work and investments.
Nadine has been tinkerering since before she could draw with crayons. Right from the beginning, her father started teaching her how to solder. She has fond memories with her Dad in the basement soldering little lights in series on a circuit board and making them flash on and off. Needless to say, little Nadine became an engineer who is a licensed Professional Engineer in Canada. Nadine did her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, then her masters at MIT, an MBA from the University of Oxford Said Business School, and she thinks she is finished collecting degrees (for now!). Fast forward, to 2019 her father and kids were all living under the same roof, she had offically become a SANDWICH with both children and a elderly parent living at home. In August 2021, when her 79 yr old father had a stroke, and came home, he had limited mobility and started the process of recovery at home. What is a daughter to do, well she did what she knows best, she picked up tools and started making the house easier for her father to live in, so in August of 2021 the smart home retrofit began so her father could find it easier to live at home and modified every aspect of the house and ensure her fathers safety. In January of 2024, another health crisis when her father became septic, while she was travelling for work. Which started the search for technologies that she could further use to extend her father's independence at home, while non-invasisly monitoring him, hence the home has become at patchwork quilt of varying technologies that can be voice controlled with Google, Alexa, and Siri but there was no one solution for Nadine to be able to control her home from one source like she could within her home; in July of 2024 Nadine quit her job in engineering and decided to solve this problem not just for her but others just like her.
Nadine has always been a self proclaimed nerd, and has affectionately referred to herself as "Nerdine". From her love of science fiction and tinkerering came the name Tinkerer-Borg, Borg represents the alien group from Star Trek, cybernetic organisms who co-opt technology and knowledge through a process of assimilation. At Tinkerer Borg we look to partner with the latest technologies that can be disrupted into Age focused technologies that address the needs of our aging loved ones and populations.
As a human resource professional and director of internal affairs for nearly 30 years of Hecla Mining Company, the United States and Canada's largest silver producer, Sandy spent her career collaborating with both internal and external clients. Her honesty and integrity have always been her most valued traits, from which she has never wavered. With her resourcefulness, creative mind, problem-solving abilities, and her positive attitude, she is well-positioned for this next chapter. Though HR is her background, she grew up in an engineer-focused family, so she embodies the Tinkerer Borg DNA.
Sandy, as a result of living on four continents throughout her lifetime, has a deep interest in and appreciation of other countries and cultures. Traveling abroad has been extremely rewarding to her as it has challenged her to grow and become more adaptable.
Professionally, Sandy is proud to be associated with Tinkerer Borg, but also personally. Having had the privilege of caring for several aging and/or ailing family members, she wishes the Tinkerer Borg products had been available years ago. The peace of mind Tinkerer Borg provides caretakers pertaining to safety and security is priceless.

Stephanie has a rich background in rendering technical leadership, her career has been marked by exceptional achievements in various domains. Starting in Film and VFX, I brought leadership to the mental ray for Maya integration exposing customers to native Monte Carlo ray tracing which can be used to create stunning visual effects. In March of 2003 the Maya team won the 2002 Oscar for Technical Merit for Finding Nemo, Lord of the Rings, and the Matrix. She is also the younger sister of our founder, so Nadine wanted to show off the Oscar picture (big sis likes to brag about her little sis). Stephanie has much cooler pictures on her linkedIn profile.
Transitioning to the gaming industry, Stephanie is now a valued technical leader of Ubisoft in rendering. In the Far Cry 6, which won a 2021 Navgtr for Outstanding Graphics, Stephanie showcased her ability to keep a team focused and committed to success. Alongside her technical prowess, she has also established herself as an influential Keynote speaker, having delivered highly regarded keynotes at the Meta Software Summit 2022 and ACCU 2023. Notably, I also presented an esteemed talk on ray tracing in Far Cry 6 at GDC 2022.
Another big sis bragging moment: Stephanie was one of the 50 people named to the 2021 Game Awards Future Class out of the thousands of people nominated worldwide. This achievement marks Stephanie's commitment to creating a welcoming development environment that’s driven by excellence.
We look forward to Stephanie working with our portfolio companies on their graphics interface. She won and Oscar and Gaming award after all!
